Butterfly

Age Frame of Lesson: 4-8

Time Frame of Lesson: 30 minutes

Overview of Lesson: To allow kids to create their own critter and interact with stories that they read.

Materials Needed:

  • tissue paper 
  • popsicle stick
  • 2 google eyes and a pipe cleaner(optional)
  • markers in various colors
  • glue

 

Procedure:

 

Step 1

Chose a color of tissue paper and decorate both sides with different colors and patterns of your choice.

Fold the paper like an accordian with folds 1-1.5 inches apart.

Step 2

Pinch the center of the paper together and glue each layer to the next in one place and then paste the whole thing to one side of the popsicle stick.

Allow to dry.

Step 3

Decorate the open side of the popsicle sick with markers to match the wings.  Glue google eyes to the top and a folded pipe cleaner just below to complete the face and create antennae.

Google eyes and pipe cleaners for antennae can be substituted for drawn on features with marker.
