Reading Is FUNdamental Pittsburgh is a small non-profit dedicated to providing children with the resources, motivation, and opportunities to develop a life-long love of reading. By providing low-income children and families with access to quality reading materials, motivational events that encourage literacy, and the opportunity to build home libraries, RIF Pittsburgh is dedicated to decreasing the literacy gap in our community. In the last year alone, we gave away more than 64,000 brand new, age-appropriate books to 20,000 of Pittsburgh’s most economically disadvantaged children.
The intern will work closely with the entire RIF Pittsburgh team to coordinate and manage projects.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
· Attend and support RIF Pittsburgh outreach activities
· Develop, update and maintain databases
· Research and support fundraising initiatives
· Assist in program implementation projects
Interns must be detail-oriented, have a positive attitude, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills and solid computer skills. Since many of our outreach events occur on nights and weekends, interns must have a flexible schedule.
The position offers the opportunity to gain experience in a small, dynamic nonprofit. Interns will be exposed to all aspects of daily operations.
