Reading Is Fundamental Pittsburgh is seeking volunteers for its Everybody Wins! Program. This literacy mentoring program pairs kindergarten, 1st-, 2nd-, and 3rd-grade students with a caring adult to build a meaningful relationship while sharing conversation, good books, and literacy-related activities for one hour a week. These consistent, one-on-one experiences increase a child’s opportunity for success, both academically and in life.
When you read with a child, Everybody Wins!
Children win by experiencing the joy of reading in a fun, stress-free environment. Each week, students have the opportunity to build a relationship with their “Reading Buddy” and spend time reading or engaging in literacy-related activities. By combining books with the power of a positive, consistent relationship, Everybody Wins! sets children on a path toward a life-long love of reading and learning.
Volunteers win by building a fulfilling relationship with a child, sharing their love of reading, and experiencing the big impact a small commitment can make. Our Everybody Wins! mentors do not provide tutoring, but instead give their time and energy to connect with a child for what mentors often describe as the best hour of their week.
Companies and organizations win by providing a well-managed, fulfilling volunteer opportunity for employees and members that reflects their investment in the local community.
