KDKA CBS News Returns to Pittsburgh Weil and RIF Everybody Wins!

We were thrilled to welcome reporter Lindsay Ward and KDKA CBS News back to Pittsburgh Weil Elementary school to observe a mentoring session and check in with our Reading Buddies. In March 2024, Megan Shinn of KDKA CBS News interviewed Ka’Leah, one of our mentees. In this follow-up, Lindsay spoke with Ka’Leah and her mentor Cindy!

The story highlighted all of the fun students have while reading and doing literacy activities with their mentors each week. Our mentees also had the chance to meet Lindsay and ask her questions about how she uses reading and writing as a TV news reporter. We are grateful for the chance to spotlight the amazing relationships our dedicated mentors build with students, the impact our mentoring program has for building a love of reading, and the support of our volunteers and corporate partners, like UPMC and PNC, who back RIF Everybody Wins!
